Simple ideas to help your online BUSINESS grow

There are a billion websites dedicated to this. They give you some ideas and they want you to pay for a course or an ebook.

Here is a short list of how you can grow your online business for free.

1. Social Media for engaging potential clients

I know that there are so many different forms of social media and this should be sub-categorized but the truth is that I find that I have one form of Social Media that I get most of my traffic from (this may be different for many others but I am speaking from my own experience.)

Of course, I say the more the merrier. This is number one as social media is a great way to find new clients, show your existing clients what's new and promote your business.

It is a great place to put up testimonials, ask clients to share your content, see what your competitors are up to and to have a "shop that is open 24/7"

What is awesome about Social Media and the internet is that it helps us to grow our businesses even while we sleep.

Get your business up on all the major Social Network platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Linkedin. There are many more that I have not even tried myself due to time constraints.

If you want your online business to grow then this is a sure way to be noticed. It won't be easy and will require a few hours of work per day, but once you do several posts and market yourself, you will start growing your business.

2. A simple elegant website

Websites are a crucial thing to have. These days the first thing that people look at is whether you have a website or not.

Websites are amazing but too many businesses have over-active websites that put people off reading any further. Ensure that your website looks modern, is simple to use and that your pages are easy to access.

Having a user-friendly website is a big plus and usually means that a person browsing your website will stay on longer.

If I see sites that have too many moving images, pop-ups and adverts all over them I leave it immediately and never look back.

Imagine that your business store was your website. Would you want bright flashy lights? So much clutter in your shop and your salespeople give the clients so much information that they have to think about it for a few days. That is what a website is, the first impression of your business and the first impression is usually the most important one.

3. Produce good original content

If you sell shoes - Take photos of the shoes yourself, if you rent out vehicles take pictures of the vehicles.
Do not use internet images or stock images. Everyone can see when something is bland and thrown together.

If you want to grow your online business then you need to spend more time on your images, videos, posts and show people that your business is real.

Engage your clients by showing them your product, giving them relevant information and telling them why it is so great. You can use references to show them how well it is rated. How cheap you are selling it and how they can pay for it.

For a business to grow you need a website, to create relevant attractive content and to post them on your social media pages.

4. Focus on the client's needs, not the money

We all need money, and at the end of the day, that is why we have businesses. To make money.
As true as this is, this is where most people get it wrong, especially on social media.

Engaging people as a business and being professional is great but these are people's profiles. Therefore it is more of an intimate setting. You cannot just go online and blast them with your sales posts.

Business on social media is an art. You need to engage people and see who is interested. Get to know them and ask them what their needs are. I love sales and was a salesman for many years but I never sold because of the thought of the money. I sold the product by finding out what the person's problem was and that is how I got so many clients.

I promise you the money will not run anywhere, but if you are posting just to force people to buy things then you are doing more harm than good.

Take it down a notch and enjoy interacting with the people, while trying to solve their problems. Once you solve their problem. You have a happy customer, a returning customer and someone who will refer you to all of their friends. I can promise you this.

5. Use Analytics to see when is the best time to post

If there is one thing that I have learned about social media, it is this:
Depending on your clients and their timezones, you will have certain peak times in a day.
These times will be your best times to post your content and reach the maximum audience.

This will help you to save time by posting only a few times per day but reaching the most people. I used to spend hours upon hours posting continuously until I saw that my clients were only really online at three different times in a day.

Use Google Analytics or Twitter Analytics to see what time your best post was, what date you posted it, who you tagged and how many impressions you made.

All that data will help you determine when you have made a great post and when you have made a poor one.
